At Saffron CrossFit, this technique is in-built into our coaching style and delivery. We constantly assess our athletes and work to develop their skills and build all round abilities. This takes time and patience. We’re with you for the long haul.
Varied, fun activities with an emphasis on correct technique to avoid injury - and graded to suit each individuals fitness level and ability - and a great community to boot!
This is the first exercise I've actually wanted to stick with and noticed a real change in my body shape and condition. For something that's an individual activity, it feels like a team. Encouragement and support not only from Simon but the other guys and girls is second to none and gets you through those days when it's so easy to say "I'll go tomorrow". I turn up whatever the weather and whatever creative excuse my brain comes up with, it's not beaten me yet!
I started running almost 3 years ago, having never run before in my life (nope, not even at school!) and have experienced a complete life change – I am addicted to running.
However, as I have become fitter and faster, I have been experiencing hip problems. Simon noticed my running photos on facebook and kindly took the time to drop me a message advising that heel strike was a big no no. To be honest, I didn’t even know what he was talking about, but after a very enlightening conversation, I came to realise that, if I was going to continue running I had to seriously change my technique. He introduced me to the “Pose” running method and I started to work on changing to this style of running.
A few weeks later, after lots of distance running to work on these changes….I am very happy to say that I am no longer heel striking. I now love running up hills (never ever thought I’d say that!) and have been getting pb’s every week at my running club! Oh, and almost forgot to mention…….my hip pain disappeared almost 2 weeks ago!!
So, I am extemely grateful to Simon for taking the time to give me this invaluable, expert advice.
Might I point out that I live in Queensland, Australia. Simon, you are a star!
I used to see a group of people on the Common running around, pulling tyres and ropes and jumping up and down and getting very wet and muddy (being winter). I thought it looked a bit much…not something I’d ever do. Then an influential friend of mine suggested I might actually like it and being January – how about a New Year’s resolution to get fit?
Having considered that I need to get fitter and like to lose some weight I decided to give it a go. And now here I am 9 months later, about to embark on 20 PT sessions (one a week) and bootcamps when I can make them. The reason is that Simon is a great trainer. He motivates and encourages you to push a bit further than you thought you could go, but doesn’t shout! He knows his stuff and helps me understand why form is really important when doing certain exercises. He is a good teacher and remarkably patient!
I really enjoy bootcamp and the PT sessions I’ve had so far. I have a really full on schedule and demanding job in London but I am so much happier and invigorated after every session – and yes – a lot fitter and stronger than I’ve been in a long time. I highly recommend Simon to anyone who may feel a bit cautious about stepping out on this adventure. It’s definitely worth it.
Innovative approach to exercise. No two workouts ever the same. Simon inspires you to achieve your goals. The friendliness & camaraderie is unlike any class I've been to. Most importantly it's highly effective.
Simon's ability to make exercise fun whilst making sure I am challenged has converted me....previously quite allergic to exercise but now I really want to go along and I feel sooo much better for it.
Great fun and professional instructor, Simon has worked hard to build this club into a fitness community. Keep fit, meet people and have fun.
If you want to get (a lot!) stronger & fitter alongside supportive, like-minded, down-to-earth people then give Saffron CrossFit a go. All levels of fitness are welcome & Simon readily offers advice on dealing with specific injuries/niggles. Emphasis is placed on completing exercises correctly & safely but with plenty of positive encouragement to push your limits - it's amazing how much more you achieve than you initially think! Simon enthusiastically provides the opportunities for you to turn up, work hard & be glad that you did!
I am sure I'm Simon’s oldest member and until 2 years ago lived my life devoid of exercise. At Simon’s assurance that age was irrelevant, I started bootcamp and found, to my amazement, that I loved it. I am fitter, stronger and my sports physio will confirm that my back has never been in better shape. Simon is an excellent coach, giving instruction, guidance and encouragement with a dose of good humour. You will be part of a community of like-minded people of all shapes, sizes, ages and abilities. They train with serious intent but the fun and camaraderie is always there. The training is always varied, no boring treadmills or machines! I can’t recommend it highly enough.
I have been going to Saffron CrossFit's Bootcamp for 2 years. I started after my second son was born after doing no exercise since my eldest arrived. A brilliant way to do something just for me! Simon is great and every class I've been to has been varied, with different exercises and equipment each week.
I joined Simon at Saffron Crossfit only very recently having moved from London. Its lovely to be involved in a box that is growing and will no doubt get bigger and better under Simon's stewardship. A great crowd of people and a lovely atmosphere at the gym. Looking forward to seeing how it all develops and grows. Well done Simon!
I always loved doing sport, but Saffron CrossFit is a whole new level of challenge and fun! It never gets boring, every day a different workout, but always attention to safety with dedicated training for proper technique and mobility exercises. Simon is a great coach, he knows when and how to scale down exercises to a level that is right for you, but he also know when to push you to challenge yourself!
